What to expect at your office visit
On the day of your appointment, please avoid taking pain medications 8 hours prior to your visit as this can alter the results of our testing and interfere with the accuracy of your diagnosis. It is advisable to bring a list of all medications that you regularly have taken within the past month (both over-the-counter and prescription), their doses and why you’re taking them. If you require medication prior to dental treatment (i.e antibiotics for pre-med), please contact your prescribing physician for medication and take them prior to your visit.

Dr. Hassan will conduct several tests and fully discuss the findings as well as options with you before beginning treatment. We will make sure you are aware of the benefits and risks involved in treatment, as well as the prognosis for your tooth, so you can make an informed decision. The treatment itself can often be completed that day; however, at times a second appointment is needed. If you are apprehensive, we can help by offering technology such as nitrous oxide (laughing gas), massage and heated dental chairs, and 3D virtual reality glasses.

Post treatment care

Following root canal treatment, your tooth will no longer be sensitive to hot or cold. However, the tooth may be sensitive to biting up to two weeks after the treatment. You may experience soreness around the gum tissue. We recommend taking 600mg of Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) every 6 hours for the next 2-3 days. If you cannot take ibuprofen, 1000mg Tylenol (2 Extra Strengths) may be substituted. Always consult with your physician if you have any questions about our recommendations and your current medications.

A temporary filling has been placed in your tooth. It is not unusual for a thin layer to wear down and feel like a divot. If you feel the entire temporary filling has come out, please contact us.
Please contact your general dentist for a permanent restoration as soon as your symptoms subside or within the time frame we have recommended.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at any time. We are very concerned about your comfort!

Financial and office policies

We accept most insurance plans and are pleased to submit your insurance claims on your behalf. We work hand-in-hand with you to maximize your benefits. While we try our best to estimate your cost of treatment, actual payment is determined by the insurance company once they process your claim. As a service to you, not only will our team research your benefits and provide you with your estimated costs (prior to starting treatment), we will happily submit your claim to your dental plan on your behalf.

For your convenience we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express and work with CareCredit to help you finance your dental needs.

If you have any questions regarding your dental benefits or a general question regarding our office, it would be our pleasure to assist you. Please send us a message or call us at (248) 900-3020.
